Gareth and Robert write the music together. Gareth writes all the words. Gareth sings and Robert plays keyboards, percussion and guitar. We use our friends Mat, Ali, Jason and Max to play drums, bass and additional guitars on our recordings.

We like - 10cc, Abba, Belle and Sebastian, Boney M, the Smiths/Morrissey, Steeleye Span, Sparks, Magnetic Fields, Kate Bush, St Etienne, Suicide, Readers Wifes, Tubeway Army, King Crimson, Mungo Jerry, X-Ray Spex and nearly every UK Top 40 record of the Elizabethan Age between 1964 and 1982, and lots more pop songs either side of that from Hildegard of Bingen c.1100 to Truth Hurts c.2002.

We do not believe in genre. The Velvet Underground are a pop group. Dollar are a pop group. There are only great and bad pop groups. Van der Graaf Generator are a great pop group. H and Clare are a bad pop group.

We love rock and roll music but we despair of the cliches of rock and roll. "The kids", phoney rebelliousness, music coming up from the streets etc. It was never really true, and it certainly isn't nowadays.
